Dr Otared Haidar

Dr Haidar is a faculty member at the Department of the Islamic World and Middle East Studies, University of Oxford, where she teaches Arabic and Arabic Media, and lecturer in Arabic at Wadham College, University of Oxford. Dr Haidar has lectured at several other universities and institutions including the Institute of Ismaili Studies in London and the University of London.

Dr Haidar has previously worked as a consultant and a lecturer at the Institute of Ismaili Studies in London where she designed and lectured in several courses including Modern and Classical Arabic Literature. She has presented academic papers at international conferences and published many articles in academic journals. She has published a chapter in Middle Eastern Minorities and the Arab Spring: Identity and Community in the Twenty-First Century and she is now working on a book on Narrating Syrian War in Literature and Arts, which will be published by I. B. Tauris. She is also an editor in Damascus Centre which is part the Euro-Mediterranean Network of Human rights, and also a member of the British Association of Writers.
